Indirect assessment of the PLOs’ attainment using survey


The next method to evaluate the PLOs of WCET, TET program is indirect method based on survey questioner. We can see the survey constituents, survey frequencies and minimum achievement level from in above Table 4.7. The following constituents plays important role in the evaluation of the attainment of PLOs.

- Alumni
- Graduate students
- Students
The DCC is generally responsible for organizing the survey and performs the processes shown in Figure 4.5.

Survey collection and elaboration stage: In order to evaluate the attainment of PLOs of WCET program, the following 4 type of surveys are collected from the program constituent.
  • Student survey. This survey is obtained to evaluate the attainment of CLO of the courses conducted in the particular semester. In other words, it described how students acquired the CLOs in this course through this survey. The department secretary and learning masters collect this survey from the students by each courses conducted in every semester and transfer the filled answer sheets to the faculty who teach that course. Then, the faculty elaborates the results of survey and do the CLOs’ report of the course. The student survey template is shown in Appendix E.1 (Course survey).
  • Graduate student survey. This survey is obtained from graduate students in every year (i.e., end of academic year). The purpose of this survey is not only to define the students’ attainment of knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during 4 year of the program, but also to describe the program improvement requirements through evaluating the program performance using various type of questions included in this survey regarding training activity, faculty’s capability and learning facility and environment conditions. The faculty who is responsible of graduation of this year collect this survey from the graduate students and transfer the filled answer sheets to the DCC. The team nominated from DCC elaborates the result of survey. The graduate student survey template is shown in Appendix E.2 (Exit survey).
  • Alumni survey. This survey is obtained from alumnus who works in professional field in every year. The team nominated from DCC elaborates the result of survey. This survey is used to evaluate how the WCET program’s contents and scopes consistent with both the PEOs and PLOs and improve the PEOs and PLOs based on alumni’s recommendation. Also, it is evaluated the importance of PEOs and PLOs. The alumni survey template is shown in Appendix E.3 (Alumni survey).
  • Employer survey. This survey is obtained from employers who takes our graduates in his/her company/organization once in a year. The team nominated from DCC elaborates the result of survey. This survey has the significance to describe analyze how the PEOs and graduates qualifications are meet with employer’s needs and requirements and the attainment of PLOs is achieved. The employer survey template is shown in Appendix E.4 (Employer survey).
Analysis and Implementation: Since the graduate student survey, alumni survey and employer survey are key surveys for evaluating the performance of PLOs, DCC is organizes the all work to analyze the results of these surveys. In particular, DCC analyze by comparing the results of indirect evaluation of PLOs’ performance with the results of direct evaluation and describe which PLOs’ performance is not reached to the minimum achievement level as well as elaborate the recommendations and proposals regarding the improvement, changes and required activities in the program.
The recommendations and proposals by DCC is then presented to all department faculties and PAB members and reflect their comments and recommendations if necessary. The significant changes such as add and eliminate course in the curriculum, change credit of course are discussed and approved by the Curriculum Sub-Committee (CSC) of SICT and Curriculum General Committee (CGC) of MUST and then all changes are applied to the relevant documents and notified to all parties involved.
