Evaluation of the PLOs of the WCET, TET programs through surveys

Performance evaluation results and analysis of PLOs
In this self-study report, the performance level of PLOs of WCET program is described based on the analyses in the data collected in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. Since the 1st method described in Table 4.6 above is mainly used for the evaluation of attainment of CLOs, it is not used for the evaluation of PLOs’ performance. While, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th methods are used for the evaluation of PLOs’ performance and then results are analyzed.
The evaluation methods for each PLO’s performance of WCET program is presented in Table 1.

Evaluation of the PLOs of the WCET program through surveys
In the evaluation of the PLOs of the WCET program, three types of surveys were used. The performance of the PLOs is assessed annually by using the survey forms provided in Appendixes (E1-E4). In this report, the results of the surveys conducted in the academic years of 2015 - 2016 and 2016 – 2017 are given. The survey results are shown in Table 2 and Figure 1.

Assessment on the PLOs performance of employers, alumni and exit students is shown in Table 4.33. According to the performance assessment of the PLOs, the overall average point is above the minimum achievement level for all PLOs, but the different results are seen from each participant: employers, alumni and exit students. This shows that quality of graduation is different each year in line with fundamental skills of enrolled students. Moreover, it is necessary to improve the performance of the all PLOs of WCET, especially A.1; A.3; C.2; C.3; D.1; D.2; D.3. During the surveys, comments and recommendations from all participants are collected and analyzed. Comments and recommendations from employers and alumni are concluded as follow:
Comments and recommendations from employers:
  • Improve the skills to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Improve the communication skills with others
  • Develop students through extracurricular activities
  • Improve the skills to prepare documents
  • Focus on practical applications
  • Improve self-expression and presentation skills
  • Improve technical English level
  • Develop ability to analyze problems
  • Organize a program to present and debate
  • Include additional hours for meetings and interviews with professional engineers in the teaching program
  • Operate joint laboratories with specialized organizations
  • Increase student engagement in national research works
  • Introduce the research methodology and standards thoroughly
  • Work closely with law of innovation
  • Incorporate teaching skills that were not been taught in secondary education in the program
  • Invite professional engineers so that they teach students selected subjects
Comments and recommendations from alumni:
  • Be able to work on modern and new equipments
  • Study on IP-based modern technologies
  • Developing personal attitudes
  • Develop selp-expression and oral communication skills
  • Assess their ability to work independently during the study period
  • Be able to work on real wireless communication models
  • Provide more detailed information about new technologies, products and services to students

As seen from above comments and recommendations, it is necessary to pay more attention to provide graduates with communication skills, personal attitudes, maturity and skills to innovate and create besides professional engineering knowledge and skills.
Indirect assessment of the PLOs of the WCET, TET program or known as survey results is briefly included in this report. More detailed information could be introduced during experts visit.
